This Golden Sour Ale is a blend of select barrels aged between 9 months and 2 years. It is a favorite blend of ours and one we had to package without adding any fruit. With a light acidity and earthy funk it is great for the sour fanatic and someone just getting into the style.

We then add an assortment of hops.  The result makes your brain do a backflip.  The familiar smell of hops quickly gives way to the tartness of the golden ale.

Local Prickly Pear hand-picked in Ocean Beach, San Diego leads the charge on this mouthwatering wild ale. It’s sweet like candy with a beautiful, bright orange color and balanced acidity, a bottle that you’ll immediately want more of.

Brewed with organic prickly pear, a cactus found in our San Diego landscape, this tart yet slightly sweet wild ale has a bright, fruity flavor and floral aroma.  A touch of Malden Sea Salt on the backend helps to keep this beer balanced.

These prickly pears are grown right in Ocean Beach and served in the tasting room right down the street.  Talk about hyper-local!

We started with our golden ale that we aged 12 months in oak barrels to produce tart flavors, fruity notes, and a funky character. We then added a ridiculous amount of Fresh California Peaches. But we didn’t stop there… We then added a bunch of fresh local Passion Fruit from our friends, the Nagelbergs, in Del Mar. This wild ale might just be the sourest beer we have made.  Super tart and funky…just the way we like it.

Introducing our Nebbiolo Wild Ale.

The Nebbiolo grape has a deep color violet color and bold tannins.  Despite its tannic structure, this beer’s fruity flavors of cherry and raspberries are supported by aromas of rose and anise, which always seem to shine through.  Nebbiolo can be herbaceous with more sour cranberry fruit, rose hip, and leather and red clay minerality.   However, those willing to take a risk with this dark and rich vino grape are in for a pleasant surprise.

We placed these grapes on our golden ale that aged in oak barrels for 12 months.  The beer then undergoes a secondary fermentation on the wine grapes. The wild yeast from the grape skins adds extra funk and flavor.  We love our wine grape sours.  Once you try them, you will immediately know why.

This 2020 vintage of our Cabernet Franc Wild Ale was made with fresh grapes hand-picked in San Marcos, CA.

We placed these grapes on our golden ale that aged in red wine barrels for 12 months.  The beer then undergoes a secondary fermentation on these freshly crushed Cab Franc grapes. The wild yeast from the grape skins adds an extra level of funk and flavor.

Our Cabernet Franc is then bottle conditioned for several months, creating a fruit-forward and complex sour ale.  This beer is the latest in our ever-growing wine grape series.  If you enjoyed our Rosé or Echoes of Muscat… you are not going to want to miss this one.
